Dear carers, family, friends & staff members
Re: Biala Support Services Inc. ‘Friends of Biala’ Fundraising Committee
Due to dwindling numbers on the fundraising committee I am seeking support from carers, family members and friends of clients and North Coast Fun Club staff to attend a monthly fundraising meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at 10.30am and assist with fundraising. The meetings are held at Biala – 78 Fox Street, Ballina.
Currently there are only 3 members on the committee as well as the CEO, Wendylee Playford. The members have been fundraising for over 20 years and need some assistance as they are becoming weary.
Your support would be immensely appreciated and will help to ensure that services, excursions and activities to clients and students with disabilities can continue.
You may have fresh, new ideas and energy to help fundraise and this will assist all agencies of Biala Support Services Inc.
If you are able to help, please contact Mrs Sue Parker on 66865143 or Mrs Wendylee Playford on 66864763. You may also contact me on 66246615 or 0407 174 555

I have been the Coordinator of North Coast Fun Club (NCFC) since May 2002 and have thoroughly enjoyed working with a great bunch of joyful clients and dedicated staff.
Before commencing as the Coordinator of Fun Club I was employed as a Support Worker with Fun Club for a couple of years and was a volunteer Support Worker before that.
I am also one of the bus drivers - providing transport to clients on Fun Club outings.
I have lived on the Far North Coast all of my life and have a good knowledge of local venues. I liaise with venues to negotiate a 'good deal' regarding costs for clients when attending outings as I know that the Disability Support Pension only goes so far. I also negotiate costs for group bookings with theme parks etc.
I am a light hearted, humourous person and would like to think that I am approachable should clients, carers or staff want to discuss anything with me. I have a personal policy of maintaining confidentiality as is also respected by all the staff, management and Board of Governence members of Biala Support Services Inc.
I organise appropriate, safe, supervised and fun outings and activities that are based on what clients, carers and staff have suggested that they would like to do. I regularly check in with clients while we are on outings to get feedback about what people would like me to plan for upcoming outings. Information about outings is also gained from the representatives on the NCFC Consumer Consultation Committee.
I have another job that involves working with people with disabilities and their carers as well as working with frail older people and people who have dementia and their carers, so I have much experience.
I can be contacted after hours and on weekends. (see contact details below)

Hi. It is my absolute pleasure to work with all the great clients and friendly staff of North Coast Fun Club. We have so much fun that it hardly seems like work most of the time! I sometimes do volunteer work with North Coast Fun Club as well.
I also work with Biala Brokerage (Support and Respite) which is another agency within Biala Support Services Inc. which I thoroughly enjoy.
My life is pretty busy between my part time work and having a husband and four children.
I have a deep sense of respect for all people and appreciate everyone’s uniqueness and individuality. I enjoy helping people and encourage their independence while providing support.
I can’t wait to meet new members of North Coast Fun Club and their families.

Hi. I have the best time working with North Coast Fun Club as a Care Support Worker. I sometimes volunteer my time as well.
I love stirring everyone up and getting them laughing. I act like a bit of a clown most of the time, but of course this does not detract from my responsibility as a dependable support for clients and the other staff of NCFC.
I think laughter and music are most healing and music is definitely a good communicator, especially for people who do not have speech to express themselves. I particularly enjoy helping people with profound disabilities and use music and laughter as my prop.
Helping people is very rewarding and brings out the best in me. I am very lucky to be able to do the work that I do. I have a wife and four children that keep me on the go. They are my life and I love them unconditionally.
I look forward to meeting new members of North Coast Fun Club and their families.

Hi. I very much enjoy working with North Coast Fun Club. I work for other agencies within Biala Support Services Inc. as well and enjoy all my jobs. I work for Biala Special School (my main job) as a Special Needs Teachers Aid and I also work for Biala Brokerage (support and respite) as a Care Support Worker.
Each year I volunteer my time to help with the annual holiday for Biala clients (clients from other agencies also join us) for a week in October to such places as Tangalooma Resort on the Sunshine Coast which I enjoy.
I am an Occupational Health and Safety committee member for Biala Support Services Inc. We meet regularly to discuss many things, but the main focus is on client and staff safety. I love all my jobs and wouldn’t change them for the world.
I have a family that keeps me busy too. I am a volunteer member of the State Emergency Services (SES) which I thoroughly enjoy. My life is busy, full and rewarding. I look forward to meeting new NCFC members and their Carers.

I really have a great time working and volunteering for North Coast Fun Club. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with such committed and dedicated staff.
I have gained loads of experience and I believe this has helped me to obtain my current job. My main job is with Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care, Department of Human Services NSW. I work as a Key Worker and Support Worker as part of Ballina Accommodation Support Services.
I really look forward to meeting new North Coast Fun Club clients, staff and their families.
